Club Rules
Guidelines for all members to ensure everyone enjoys their time at the club
Court Etiquette
- 1Proper tennis attire and non-marking court shoes are required.
- 2Wait for play to stop on adjacent courts before retrieving balls.
- 3Keep noise levels reasonable and avoid loud outbursts.
- 4Clean up after yourself - remove all garbage, bottles, and personal items.
Code of Conduct
Amberlea Tennis Club strives to provide a safe, welcoming and positive environment for all members, programs and facilities. It is a club for all players regardless of playing ability, and the focus is on recreational tennis and having fun.
The courts, including the practice court, are to be used for their intended purpose, namely playing tennis and nothing else.
Given the diversity of the membership and the location of the courts (in Shadybrook Park, close to a school and playground), all members and guests are expected to conduct themselves on and off the courts in a dignified manner and display sportsmanship at all times. The goal is to encourage a community in which individuals are treated with respect, dignity and fairness.
The use of profanities, threatening language and/or violent gestures towards anyone as well as racquet abuse will not be tolerated.
The Executive takes these matters very seriously and any violation of these as well as the court rules will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the severity, actions can range from a written warning to expulsion from the club.
Note: Amberlea Tennis Club and its members and guests will also abide by the City of Pickering's "Zero Tolerance Policy" at all times.
Court Time Rules
You can play at any time and play until other members show up. If both courts are busy:
- •New arrivals will check with the players on both courts to determine who has played the longest.
- •Once that has been concluded, the players on that court will be able to play for another max 30 minutes and will then have to come off.
- •If both courts are busy, the players who have just come off will now have to wait 30 minutes - unless someone/others were already waiting and they will get priority.
In this way, everyone will get a fair share of court time.
IMPORTANT: Always check the club's monthly calendar (posted at the courts and on the website) before heading down to the courts, as planned leagues and events such as junior lessons, drop-ins and tournaments take priority.
Guest Policy
- •Members may bring guests a maximum of 3 times per season.
- •Guests must be accompanied by a member at all times.
- •Members are responsible for their guests' conduct.
